The new Sony HDR-PJ50V Handycam comes with a built in 220GB harddrive, enough for up to 91 hours of recording in LP mode, a little less in full quality. It offers 60p recording for the smootest playback, if you prefer a film like quality a 24p mode is offered, too. The maximum resolution is 1920x1080, which basically means Full HD 1080p. The famous back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor allows to relocate the photo diodes above the support circuitry, maximizing the light gathering area per pixel, it's extreme light sensitivity assures high quality recording even if the light conditions are bad. The HDR-PJ50V uses a wide angle G Lens, superior performance guaranteed. A special tracking focus for e.g. faces allows you to follow an object and automatically keep it focussed, similar to the autofocus you know from a digital still camera. There is a real optical zoom of 12x, no inferior digital one, so you can zoom without any quality loss. The audio features are impressive, too: Dolby digital 5.1 recording, wind noise reduction for clear voice recording, clear phase stereo speakers for true and dynamic sound. Last but not least, the built in projector for screns up to 60-Inches allows direct projection of your recordings from your Handycam, without having to buy any extra projector. Overall, the Sony HDR-PJ50V is one of the hottest new camcorder releases in 2011, feature rich with superior quality you are used from Sony, all at a very attractive price. If you are serious about quality, the new HDR-PJ50V is the way to go.

The HDR-PJ50V is one of the new camcorder models of Sonys popular Handycam series presented on the CES Las Vegas in early 2011. In contrast to the other new releases, the HDR-PJ30V and the HDR-PJ10 it is equipped with a 220GB harddrive instead of just flash memory, making it perfect for longer movies in Full HD 1080p resolution. The LED panel looks alot brighter and has a better resolution than those known from the older Handycam models. The most innovative new feature is perfect for everybody who wants to present homemade movies to friends and family: A built in projector, powerful enough for projection on a screen up to 60-inches in diagonal. No more copying to a DVD or on a seperate harddisc, you can present your movies right from your camcorder. Very comfortable in out opinion and the quality looks extremely good, absolutely comparable to comparable pocket projectors. Another new feature is geotagging, so you always know where exactly a movie was recorded. The needed GPS module is already built it.
